About the Framework
The Level Zero Exam is a 30-point behavioral evaluation grounded in 13 research traditions, applied to any customer-facing asset, and delivered as a scored report within 24 hours. This page is about the methodology behind it — where it came from and why it works.
The Framework Came From the Field
The Level Zero framework originated not in a marketing department or a research lab, but in competitive field environments where decisions about who gets the business are made in thirty seconds by someone evaluating five equally capable operators simultaneously.
Those decisions are not made on price. They are not made on capability. They are made on who looks most credible, most organized, most like the kind of operation a decision-maker can stake their own reputation on. Capable operators lose business they should win, repeatedly, at the structural presentation layer — the layer that happens before any conversation begins.
That observation — accumulated across decades of competitive field experience — became the foundation of the Level Zero framework. The same behavioral failure that costs an operator a bid costs a business a customer. It operates at the same structural layer. It responds to the same corrections. And it had no name, no instrument, and no standard.
"The capability was real. The presentation infrastructure wasn't built yet. Once the structural layer was corrected, the capability became visible."
The Level Zero instrument was built by mapping those observed conversion failures against thirteen documented behavioral research traditions — Kahneman's dual-process theory, Cialdini's influence principles, Fogg's behavior model, Tversky and Kahneman's prospect theory, and nine others — translating laboratory findings into a scored, actionable diagnostic that produces specific corrections without a consultant retainer.
Every evaluation submitted to Level Zero is reviewed and delivered against the documented 30-point standard. Every finding is specific to the asset evaluated, the industry context, and the visitor decision path. That is the product.

Why the Framework Exists
01
The problem is structural, not strategic.
Businesses with strong offers, real expertise, and genuine competitive advantage lose customers at the structural layer before strategy ever gets a chance to work. Fixing the foundation is not a marketing strategy. It is a prerequisite for every marketing strategy to produce a return.
02
System One decides before you get to make your case.
Every visitor makes an unconscious binary decision within five seconds of encountering any customer-facing asset. No amount of brilliant copy below the fold recovers a visitor who left in the first five seconds because the structural signals failed.
03
Generic instruments produce generic findings.
Automated tools, templated audits, and outsourced reports measure surface-level signals. Level Zero evaluates the behavioral foundation — the specific element, the specific page, the specific visitor experience — because that is the only level at which a correction produces a measurable result.
04
The correction has to be written, not implied.
A scored finding without a specific correction is a diagnosis without a prescription. Every Level Zero report includes the correction written in plain language a designer, developer, or copywriter can act on without a discovery call. The value is not the score. The value is knowing exactly what to do next.
